The Flight Back Home Connected To A Suicide Story

November 12, 2022 by Lori Leave a Comment

Flight connecting a suicide story
The Flight that Connected a Suicide Story

Flight Connection

It was time to depart. I boarded the airplane. A delightful woman sat next to me on my flight back home. She shared her bag of blue chips with me. She also shared that her daughter committed suicide. It was then that I knew this was a divine appointment.

I listened to her story. I felt led to share my experience, hoping she would find comfort and a connection with me.

It’s easier to stay silent and not share, especially on the topic of suicide. This conversation prompted me to speak up. I wrote a book called The LORI Factor that is meant to help others. However, I have not shared enough about it.

Suicide Story

It took courage to write that book, especially telling how there was a time I attempted suicide. I am thankful I am alive to change and save lives with my message. This book is not just about my story; it’s about giving you hope and making a difference.

Too many people believe lies about themselves and feel unworthy and hopeless. Some get blinded by the pain and make a permanent decision to a temporary problem. If that’s you or someone you know, you landed on this blog for a reason. You are meant to be here.

We all need support and encouragement. I learned that the woman who chose to sit next to me on that flight created support services for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. We are both on a similar mission.

Especially this time of year, during the holiday season, suicide rates increase. I know my life was spared so I can help people choose life not death.

Message of Hope

Let me show you how to have a Larger vision of yourself beyond your circumstances. That is what the “L” stands for in The LORI Factor book.

There is light past the darkness. Take flight and soar. You are meant for more. Take a deep breath. Hang on. There is hope. Have faith in the now.

Be present. That is the best gift for yourself and everyone else.

I am grateful that I get to guide those on how to choose life and live the life they were born to live.

Feel free to reach out to me. Let me know how I can serve you and add value to your life.

Are you looking for a guest on your podcast or radio show? I would be delighted to be your guest.

Read my book or give it as a gift. You can get it here.

What Matters Most

Reflect on What Matters Most
Reflect on What Matters Most photo by Lori Bruton

This day is currently 9/11

It was a day of tragedy and sorrow for the attack on America in 2001 that will never be forgotten. My heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones. Thank you to all the first responders.

That was an eye-opener for what matters most.

I almost lost a dear son on August 22, 2021. He is a first responder, but it was a motocycle accident that threatened his life. Thankfully, his life was spared. Make family a priority. Love conquers all. Forgiveness opens the door to restoration, peace, harmony, and unity.

Read my article here about Unity in the Home Publications.

There will always be things to do. Your calendar is full. If you don’t schedule time for the people you love, nobody will do it for you. Don’t wait until its too late.

You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath,
even those who seem secure. ~ Psalm 39:5

Every sunrise is a gift from God.

Live each day to the fullest as though it could be your last day. When that day comes, decide NOW what your eternal address will be. Choose 777 Heaven. Your mansion awaits you. Travel to the right destination.

It is my mission to tell you that there is only One True God. Ask Him yourself. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

I almost lost my life too soon.

At that time, my eternal future was in a place of hopelessness, despair, and destruction. Then, I found Hope. I knew my story must be told. My message is meant to get into your hands.

This message is in my book:  The LORI Factor:  Live the Life You Were Born to Live

Here is a description of The LORI Factor

This book has the potential to become the avenue to your miracle. It gives insights and examples of personal experiences that are relatable and real.

Lori Bruton is a messenger of HOPE who gives you hope for the future and POWER in the present. Do you know that you have more inside you that’s waiting to come out?

“If you are seeking direction and looking for a way to transform your life, keep reading! The LORI Factor will show you the way.” Les Brown

Much Love to you and your family,

Lori’s Story of a Snail

September 21, 2021 by Lori Leave a Comment

Hey Snail, what’s your story?

What made you show up at my house?

Do you have a message for me?

What can I tell from your attractive spiral shell?

Could it be that I am going in circles?

Am I going too slowly?

A snail’s pace is often an accusation of laziness.

But, what if, it’s a sign to slow down and rest?

You are a gentle creature who comes in peace.

Wherever you go, you are at home.

How do I know? Because you carry your home with you.

You make your own trail and travel at your own pace.

You bring a message of patience and I’m right on time.

No need to get caught up in the ways of harried humans.

I’ll take a clue from you and will not participate in the pressure.

What else may I glean from your visit? Ah, it’s time to pivot.

Look at potential dangers and what’s not working.

With a shell of safety and protection, explore a new direction.

You appeared to me so that I could see your mobility.

I stopped to observe and consider other possibilities.

I ask myself what are my undiscovered talents and abilities?

Speed is not the key to success.

Your colorful, spiral shell reminds me to cherish each season.

Life is fragile. I am here for a reason.

Thank you, Snail, for crossing my path when I have much to handle.

You showed me your mobile home, and how to survive alone.

There is a time to be still and a time to move, help me find my groove.

WRITERS ARE READERS

February 15, 2019 by Lori 1 Comment

Some people like amusement parks.  As for me, a library is like an amusement park.  Surrounded by a maze of books full of stories of fact, fiction, and more is a fun ride.  It’s like diving into a sea and being submerged into different worlds full of adventure.

At one time, I worked in a library.  Shelving books was my favorite task, because I discovered new books.  The ones I signed out were treasures to uncover.  I remember the day a book fell from the shelf right at my feet.  The author got my attention; she knew what I liked.  It was that day I got the pleasure of perusing the writings of Helen Steiner Rice.

Reading poems is enjoyable, but writing poems is more so.  When my sons were in school, I wrote a personalized poem for each of their teachers at the end of the year.  The best part was going into the classrooms and reading the poems aloud.  I then presented the framed poem to each teacher as a gift.  Seeing how the words I wrote touched their hearts was a gift to me.  Every teacher said no one had ever given them anything like that before.  It was unique.  I didn’t realize the impact my poems had on their lives.  They told me my poems are proudly hanging on their walls at home even today.  Recently, a friend of mine asked me to write a poem for her family member.  Again, it was a unique, personalized gift written with carefully woven words that spoke to her.  It gave me joy to know that gift brought happy tears to her family member.

I’ve heard you can tell what people like by noticing things in their homes.  In every room of my home you will see books, lots of books.  I read them and write them.  My son asked if I ever read one book at a time from start to finish.  I do finish, but am usually into more than one book at a time.  For me, it all fits perfectly.  It still makes me laugh when I remember my son asking, “Mom, are you reading the dictionary again?”  In addition to books, notebooks, journals, and pens are abundant in my home since I am writing every day.

When it’s warm and sunny, I even take a book and notebook to read and write in my kayak.  I paddle out to my favorite spot on the creek and float while I soak in the sun.  There I commune with nature reading and writing more words that fill my soul and give me inspiration.

Speaking of inspiration, I will leave you with a poem by Helen Steiner Rice from her book, Someone Cares:

Help Yourself to Happiness

Everybody, everywhere

Seeks happiness, it’s true

But finding it and keeping it

Seems difficult to do,

Difficult because we think

That happiness is found

Only in the places where

Wealth and fame abound.

And so we go on searching

In palaces of pleasure,

Seeking recognition

And monetary treasure,

Unaware that happiness

Is just a state of mind

Within the reach of everyone

Who takes time to be kind,

For in making others happy

We will be happy too,

For the happiness you give away

Returns to shine on you.
