Travel, Explore, Discover

February 1, 2022 by Lori Leave a Comment

Travel, Explore, Discover

You are not limited by your environment or circumstances.

As I write this it is a new month in a new year, February 1st in fact.

Are you satisfied with where you are? Not only your physical location but where you are in all aspects of your life.

It’s winter where I currently live. The temperatures have been bitter cold with piles of snow. Some people may enjoy that. I’m not one of them.

I treasure the trips I have taken thus far. Some of my favorites were Monterey Bay in California, Savannah, Georgia, and Tybee Island with the lighthouse and a dolphin excursion on a tropical island. I plan to take many more. In the meantime, here are some adventures to enjoy.

When it’s time to escape, make it an adventure.

How can you travel, explore, and discover? It can happen by going on trips and vacations or even experiencing the wonder in your own living room.

Travel is gearing up again after the world has been on lockdown. Let’s talk about how you can create an atmosphere of exploration, discovery, and relaxation in your own home if you prefer.

Stimulate your senses to set the mood. Pick your preferred essential oil recipe to put in your diffuser. (Note:  Only use Young Living essential oils for best results.) Here are some ideas.

Essential Oil Diffuser Recipes

Look at this lantern diffuser. It has a candle-flicker setting. By the way, that is a good way to keep the air clean and fresh and free of toxins. Many candles are toxic. A diffuser with pure oils is a great option.

Now if you have a honey, it’s a good time to cuddle. If not, get cozy and enjoy your own company.

Maybe you have little ones. Grab a children’s book like this one.

Take yourself on an adventure. Watch a movie or dive into a good book. Discover a new experience page by page.

Enjoy the journey as you read.

Here is a book that will transform you.

Is Your Full Plate Devaluing Your Client’s Time and Projects?

November 1, 2021 by Lori Leave a Comment

It was a requirement by my mentor to attend certain events. The motive and intent were for my good. Learning the same business and personal training was a valuable experience.

As I observed her life and the craziness of the event, she said to me, “If you want what I have you have to do what I’ve done.”

Without hesitation, I said, “I don’t want what you have! Weeks without seeing your husband, working so hard and long that you collapse and hardly get any sleep. That isn’t my definition of success. That isn’t how I want my life to look. No thanks.”

I know it’s one thing to be driven and “hungry,” but you can’t be so out of balance for a long period of time without it literally making you sick and tired, burned out with damaged relationships.

My dad often said I needed to work three jobs, come home, pull weeds, and cook a hot dog, and go, go, go every minute. Work hard, yes. However, that pace and method look different for everyone. Many people brag how many jobs they are working while building their dream and business. They wear it like a badge of honor and may discredit people who aren’t working as hard as they are and even label others as lazy.

Is it worth it? Have you taken on more than you can handle? What consequences have happened?

I see it often. Business owners are taught they need to sign up for every program, group, and training. Keep in mind to choose what works for you and not get caught up in the marketing aspect of it.

On top of that, you are told it’s necessary to lose sleep, sacrifice time with your family, and work until you drop.

Yes, sacrifices are necessary, but at what cost? That can’t be the only way to achieve your dreams. Fair warning, it may result in resentment from your family, friends, and clients.

Pushing yourself to burnout isn’t benefitting anyone. Working multiple jobs while building your dream will affect how and if you show up. That will compromise your reputation and whether or not people can trust you.

Life happens and we all have missed or been late for meetings and appointments. It’s when it’s more the norm than the exception that causes problems.

Keep in mind when you set a date and time for a meeting and are late, unprepared, or a no show, what message does that send to your client? Repeated apologies get old real fast.

Your plate is not only overflowing, its breaking. The tasks you forgot to do or put aside affects more than you, it spills onto your clients. You tell them their project is being worked on, but is that just an excuse due to the way you managed or mismanaged your schedule?

If none of this matters, and the way you are doing things is working for you, keep doing what you’re doing. Success looks different for everyone.

Those of you who are ready to admit you can’t keep up your current pace and there is too much on your plate, maybe these 8 recommendations will help.

  1. Evaluate your current status. How many jobs do you have? How many trainings and groups are you in? Are you able to give your best to all of them or do you just pop in to make an appearance? Invest in yourself, yes. However, if you are in too many things at once, no human has the capacity to reap the full results and benefits.
  1. Does anyone get your full attention? Multitasking is an illusion. Active listening is a skill. How many times has someone been talking to you and you only heard bits and pieces, if anything, because maybe you were texting or doing other things while pretending to listen? Did that save or cost you time? What message did that portray to the person in front of you? Important note: If you rarely give full attention to your spouse, one day you make look up and they’re gone. If your marriage isn’t important and you prefer to be away from each other, then that may not matter. Love and happiness look different for each couple.
  1. Who and What are Your Priorities? We are all created by God for a purpose. That doesn’t mean you have to cram too many things into each day. God wants us to enjoy life in abundance. What does that look like for you? Stop and see the big picture. Dreams are important, but when you’re on your death bed will you wished you worked more? Or did you work so much it literally killed you? These are things we often don’t consider because we are racing the clock every day. Personally, the harder I push myself results in sickness and exhaustion which is costly in many ways. That doesn’t make me a wimp or lazy. Discover what’s right for you and prioritize accordingly.
  1. Pace yourself and know your limitations. Rest is a must in these human physical bodies. If you don’t, your body will rebel at the most inconvenient times, which will affect not only your health, but the commitments you made with your clients.
  1. How is doing everything yourself working for you? Hanging onto control of it all will cost you one way or another. For example, did you schedule a webinar, but you didn’t show up on time? Everyone has a learning curve with technology, but that’s when it’s good to practice or get help. If you or others were promoting a specific day and time and inviting people to the webinar, but it ended up changing at the last minute, that will affect whether or not people show up and wait for you or not show up at all. Before your meeting or webinar, assure that you have correct logins, resources, and presentations ready to go and you tested them ahead of time.
  1. No More Delays or Assumptions. It isn’t always about a client’s expectation of when each phase of their project gets completed or not. It also involves how you schedule your time and anyone on your team. Setting and meeting deadlines involves many people and their priorities. Missing meetings, not responding to messages (especially in a timely manner), and assuming your client will contact you all result in delays. Clear and timely communication is essential.
  1. Get Help. If you are exhausted and not able to keep up with everything and everyone, it’s time to get help. You can’t afford not to. Otherwise, you are risking your reputation, trust, and business.
  1. Remove things off your plate. When you keep piling on more things, other things will get buried, including yourself. There is a time and season for everything. Not everyone can successfully juggle too many jobs and clients and fit in family and fun. It will be like a house of cards waiting to fall. You may end up oversleeping and not hearing the alarm.

Hopefully, this was a wake up call for you and provided valuable considerations and solutions. Look at what is packed into each day. Make changes, adjustments, deletions as needed.

Observations and personal experiences brought me to write this message. Reach out if you need recommendations for assistance in managing your life and business.

Wishing you wellness, success, and happiness and the time to enjoy it.

It’s Time for a New Season

October 1, 2020 by Lori Leave a Comment

New Season

Some of us are still in lockdown. Some are on the frontlines. This plague has infected us all in different ways. First, let me send my heartfelt condolences to those of you who have lost loved ones.

The suicide rates and domestic violence rates have skyrocketed during this pandemic. People are in panic and some have lost hope. Fear and stress are making people sick more than COVID-19. Lost wages and work in many cases caused devastation.

It’s now October 2020. A new season is here. Have you found a way to survive or do you feel like you are drowning with no way out? Or, are you thriving? Did this pandemic give you a new perspective on life and new opportunities?

I know gratitude and being thankful, especially in the midst of this storm, helps us ride the wave and rise up. Maybe before, you wished you could spend more time with your kids and your spouse. Your wish came true. Hopefully, you came to appreciate each other more and love grew deeper. If you are alone, did loneliness swallow you up or did you get to know yourself better and be your own best friend?

It has been a time to connect in a different way, that’s for sure. Remember that we were all created for a purpose. What is it that you are truly called to do? Les Brown said, “A job is what we get paid for; a calling is what we are made for.”

Les Brown quote

Here is what I know, there is no normal or “new normal”. This is a permanent shift into a new world. Believers know we are in the world but not of the world. What’s stirring in your heart that you are passionate about? Feel that; do that.

Move with a sense of urgency. Do what you came to do. Seek the face of God. Some are seeking enlightenment. That won’t get you there. Jesus said, “I Am the Light of the world, the Truth shall make you free.” And, He said:  “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

We can be easily deceived. I was. There are so many beliefs that seem the same. Or, even worse for me was when I let go of God and found myself drunk under a truck in a church parking lot. What state of mind was I in when I did that? Yikes! All I know is that Lori is gone. She is dead. I am a new creature. I know I am here today to speak life into you. You have greatness in you. You are a masterpiece, because you are a piece of the Master. Ask Him yourself. I am not here to convince or condemn or judge. I am here to encourage you and share my experience and my journey. Why? Because maybe you can remember a time in your life where you did things you were not proud of and wondered who you were then. Maybe you want to transform your life and know your purpose.

It’s okay. Forgive yourself. Get back up. Awaken the real you and discover what you are here to do. Whatever that is, remember it’s not just for your own fulfillment and happiness, it’s to change lives, make a difference, and leave a legacy.

Do you know how many times I wanted to give up on my dreams and give up on life? Those thoughts and feelings come from the enemy who comes to kill, steal, and destroy. No! Rise up and claim your victory! God’s got your back. He will never leave you or forsake you, if you let him into your heart. Make the choice now. Vote for the One True God. Your life and future depends on it.

We all have a story and a message. It matters. I would love to speak and tell my story to more people on more platforms even virtually for now. Message me or text:  844-394-4798

Stay in peace and love. Be grateful and have faith.

Much Love,
Lori

Check the Expiration Date

June 24, 2020 by Lori 7 Comments

Les Brown said:  Are you holding on to a part of your life that has long expired? Each season in life comes with an expiration date, so life is about releasing and surrendering.

Give yourself permission to let go…of past regrets, failures, or mistakes; unresolved pain and disappointments; or actions that you should have, would have, or could have taken ~ but did not.

Choose to give in and surrender to your dream, your passion, and your calling. Marion White said…”In life when you don’t have enough courage and insight to know that you have outgrown a situation and it’s time to move on…life will move on you.” Let go or be dragged. It is your choice. You have GREATNESS within you!

Life has moved on me and was dragging me, because I didn’t see a way to keep pursuing my passion as the bills and debts pile up and my car got a terminal diagnosis. Not knowing how to dig out of all those holes. It looked hopeless. I felt defeated and discouraged.

As I sit here today, I ask myself if the things I’ve been doing have expired. Thinking I needed to get a temp job and work outside the home only to have stuff keep happening to sabotage it every time. I don’t belong there, but because of a cash flow challenge, I kept going back to what is familiar and listening to people telling me, “get a job”.

Remember that song by Uncle Kracker that says, “Something is wrong here; I don’t belong here.” For me, that would be in a corporate cube. There must be other options, right?

Guess what? My job is to write. God gave me the gift of words. I am a STORYTELLER and SPEAKER. It’s my time to tell my stories and use my voice to impact people, give them hope, and show them how to live their dream. The people who read my books and hear my voice in the written or spoken word will not only know my struggles and the obstacles I overcame, but their lives will transform and as they overcome too.

I am the Queen of Hope. I must not lose hope. The Good Book says, the enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy. The enemy doesn’t want me to live my destiny, pursue my passion, and impact lives. He doesn’t want any of us to live our purpose on purpose.

I almost fell back and got off track and paused my own dreams. No! God is the Waymaker, Miracle worker, and Promise Keeper.

Do you have a dream you gave up on, because you didn’t see a way to make it happen? No matter where you are now, it’s just where you are, not who you are, as the Oola Guys say.

Alexander Graham Bell said, “When one door closes, another door opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”

Let’s promise each other to pursue our dreams, impact lives, and love life. You were created to create by The Creator.

A great place to start is read what I created and let it inspire you. My book is endorsed by The Oola Guys, Dr. David Braun and Dr. Troy Amdahl. (Thanks for believing in me, Oola Seeker & Oola Guru). Click here to get your copy of Hole to Whole:  Journey To Hope And Transformation

Journey on. Your Oola Path awaits. (What does that mean?) Leave a comment or message me to find out.

DID YOU GET BURNED?

June 18, 2020 by Lori Leave a Comment

It hurts, doesn’t it? The pain is real. Whether it was a physical burn, even a sunburn, it has lasting effects and takes time to heal.

Even if you didn’t take proper precautions or it was an accident, you still got scorched. You treat the wounds quickly, but each day reveals a different layer. Did you feel hot, get blisters, and experience peeling? It went deep inside, didn’t it?

What if you got burned in business? That hurts too. Maybe you don’t know how a project went so wrong when you thought it was a masterpiece that you poured your heart and extra time into. All the pieces finally came together, and you did your best to make it a masterpiece.

Communication and results went well before. Like staying in the sun too long, you felt fried. With every skin cell peeling off, it left you raw and exhausted. You wonder what you could have done differently? You question whether all this time was worth it when the goal is not only happy clients but receiving revenue. Instead you lost time, money, and your passion. Keep in mind, not every client is a good fit.

More bills go unpaid and you feel sick. You thought it was a solution, especially when revenue is essential. What if this type of work is not your calling or passion? Maybe it’s just a distraction even though you’ve successfully completed similar projects with excellence many times.

Let the layers fall off. Let the dead skin cells flake off (gross, sorry). You have new skin in the game. Play a different game. There is a new thing waiting for you. Discover what that is and jump in. Stop doing work just to please others or because you think it was your only skill and is familiar. No matter what your bank account looks like now, it will grow. You will be okay even if you don’t know how right now.

Don’t let yourself get burned. It will lead to burnout. If you have been feeling weary, it may be that you are not stepping into your greatness. Search your heart. Find your true passion. Get busy living instead of dying. The right people are waiting for you.

Message me on Facebook. Tell me your true passion and dream.

WHAT’S YOUR DREAM?

March 12, 2019 by Lori 4 Comments

Make your dream happen

What’s your dream? Is it to write a book, be an artist, a musician, dance, travel, be in a movie, speak on stage, or something else? Tell me. I want to know. Whatever it is, do you believe your dream can come true?

Belief and knowing it’s possible is an important first step. Can you see it like it’s already happened? I’m excited to hear about your vision. Paint me the picture so I can see it with you. Let me know more about you and what’s going on in your life.

Paint me a picture of your dream

When you were a child what did you enjoy doing? Remembering those things may give you clues about your dreams and passions if you don’t already know.

One of my favorite things is writing. I have discovered that many people dream of writing their own book. Most of them have not, because they don’t have time or think they have to be a good writer or some other reason. There is always a way to make it happen. Everyone has a story to tell.

Write your book

Helping you go from where you are to where you desire to be is my specialty. Maybe it is writing a book. People write books for many reasons. Maybe it’s to leave a legacy, share a message, or the accomplishment of attaining the title of “author”. Telling your story can also be your own healing journey or a way to record your personal history. No matter the reason, if it’s your dream, DO IT. Don’t let anyone stop you or cause you to doubt, especially if the person stopping you is YOU.

Time is of the essence. Make your dream happen now. Let me help guide your way. As my mother used to say: “Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.”

Speaking of HELP, may I ask for your help? Please let me know what topics are of interest to you that I can blog about. Also, your feedback about my book is appreciated. Right now it is on pre-sale with a description. Let me know if it intrigues you, why, and if you would read it. If it’s not for you, do you know who would benefit from reading my book?

Leave me a comment. It’s your time to make big things happen!
