The Flight Back Home Connected To A Suicide Story

November 12, 2022 by Lori Leave a Comment

Flight connecting a suicide story
The Flight that Connected a Suicide Story

Flight Connection

It was time to depart. I boarded the airplane. A delightful woman sat next to me on my flight back home. She shared her bag of blue chips with me. She also shared that her daughter committed suicide. It was then that I knew this was a divine appointment.

I listened to her story. I felt led to share my experience, hoping she would find comfort and a connection with me.

It’s easier to stay silent and not share, especially on the topic of suicide. This conversation prompted me to speak up. I wrote a book called The LORI Factor that is meant to help others. However, I have not shared enough about it.

Suicide Story

It took courage to write that book, especially telling how there was a time I attempted suicide. I am thankful I am alive to change and save lives with my message. This book is not just about my story; it’s about giving you hope and making a difference.

Too many people believe lies about themselves and feel unworthy and hopeless. Some get blinded by the pain and make a permanent decision to a temporary problem. If that’s you or someone you know, you landed on this blog for a reason. You are meant to be here.

We all need support and encouragement. I learned that the woman who chose to sit next to me on that flight created support services for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. We are both on a similar mission.

Especially this time of year, during the holiday season, suicide rates increase. I know my life was spared so I can help people choose life not death.

Message of Hope

Let me show you how to have a Larger vision of yourself beyond your circumstances. That is what the “L” stands for in The LORI Factor book.

There is light past the darkness. Take flight and soar. You are meant for more. Take a deep breath. Hang on. There is hope. Have faith in the now.

Be present. That is the best gift for yourself and everyone else.

I am grateful that I get to guide those on how to choose life and live the life they were born to live.

Feel free to reach out to me. Let me know how I can serve you and add value to your life.

Are you looking for a guest on your podcast or radio show? I would be delighted to be your guest.

Read my book or give it as a gift. You can get it here.

What Matters Most

Reflect on What Matters Most
Reflect on What Matters Most photo by Lori Bruton

This day is currently 9/11

It was a day of tragedy and sorrow for the attack on America in 2001 that will never be forgotten. My heart goes out to all those who lost loved ones. Thank you to all the first responders.

That was an eye-opener for what matters most.

I almost lost a dear son on August 22, 2021. He is a first responder, but it was a motocycle accident that threatened his life. Thankfully, his life was spared. Make family a priority. Love conquers all. Forgiveness opens the door to restoration, peace, harmony, and unity.

Read my article here about Unity in the Home Publications.

There will always be things to do. Your calendar is full. If you don’t schedule time for the people you love, nobody will do it for you. Don’t wait until its too late.

You have made my days a mere handbreadth;
the span of my years is as nothing before you.
Everyone is but a breath,
even those who seem secure. ~ Psalm 39:5

Every sunrise is a gift from God.

Live each day to the fullest as though it could be your last day. When that day comes, decide NOW what your eternal address will be. Choose 777 Heaven. Your mansion awaits you. Travel to the right destination.

It is my mission to tell you that there is only One True God. Ask Him yourself. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

I almost lost my life too soon.

At that time, my eternal future was in a place of hopelessness, despair, and destruction. Then, I found Hope. I knew my story must be told. My message is meant to get into your hands.

This message is in my book:  The LORI Factor:  Live the Life You Were Born to Live

Here is a description of The LORI Factor

This book has the potential to become the avenue to your miracle. It gives insights and examples of personal experiences that are relatable and real.

Lori Bruton is a messenger of HOPE who gives you hope for the future and POWER in the present. Do you know that you have more inside you that’s waiting to come out?

“If you are seeking direction and looking for a way to transform your life, keep reading! The LORI Factor will show you the way.” Les Brown

Much Love to you and your family,

Eat the Dessert First: Start Living Life on Your Terms

August 8, 2022 by Lori Leave a Comment

Bread Pudding Dessert @drdepot photo by Lori Bruton

I agree with this Helen Keller quote, “Life is short and unpredictable. Eat the dessert first.”

In my book, The LORI Factor:  Live the Life You Were Born to Live, there is a chapter called, Lifestyle:  Start Living Life on Your Terms.

Are you living life on your terms?

I know I wasn’t, until I made different decisions. As a result, I stopped letting life happen to me. I stopped allowing other people’s opinions become my reality.

I remember when somebody mentioned something my mother said. I said I hadn’t talked to my mother that day. He said I meant your mother’s voice that’s in your head. Whoa! He was right. I loved my mother, but many words she said were not the truth. A phrase I kept hearing from her was, “You can’t do that,” and “Your sister would be the one to write a book.” Hearing that repeatedly programmed me to believe it.

Note:  Be careful who and what you believe, or you will be deceived.

Thankfully, I learned to tune into a higher voice of the One who taught me my voice matters and that I can do anything that I put my mind to, like writing books. Renewing my mind, changing, and upgrading my thoughts and words were the beginning of living life on my terms.

The Serenity Prayer says:  God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.

It does take courage.

These powerful words made a big difference, “This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” ~ Joshua 1:9 NLT

Focus on the things you can control. You can’t control the past. Be present. Get unstuck. Instead of resisting change, embrace it.

That doesn’t mean accepting everything being dictated around you. Stand up for what’s right. Unmask yourself. Let your voice be heard.

I used to feel invisible and was taught to be quiet and not to interrupt until I got a LARGER vision of myself beyond what people told me and beyond my circumstances. It’s time to speak up and let my voice be heard because you need to hear this message of hope, encouragement, and empowerment.

By the way, it’s not a coincidence that you are reading or hearing this right now. “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD, “They are plans for good and not for disaster to give you a future and a hope.” ~ Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

Paint a picture in your mind of what your best life looks like. Hold that vision, write it down, and make it plain, as it says in the living Word of God in Habakkuk 2.

Keep it before your eyes.

When you can visualize the life you desire, it puts you in the driver’s seat. Visualization is a powerful tool. What do you love? Where are you? What are you doing? Who is with you? See it, hear it, taste it, smell it, and feel it.

Engage all your senses.

Be specific. Picture your dream vacation or dream car, for example. Soon your dreams become reality. Take action. I put myself in the driver’s seat on a boat recently. I have been writing more and getting articles published. I am a travel writer and am stepping into that lifestyle.

Start where you are. Take yourself places in your mind first. Do things in your own backyard that are local.

Explore. Take a road trip.

I live in the “gorges” Finger Lakes region where there are beautiful lakes, waterfalls, and parks. Watkins Glen is a must-see place. From Canandaigua to Ithaca NY, I got to experience accommodations, adventures, relaxation, and amazing food including:

Capt. Bill’s Dinner and Sunset Sightseeing Seneca Lake Cruise

Summit to Stream where I took out an ocean kayak on Seneca Lake

Keuka Watersports at Champlin Beach in a kayak on Keuka Lake

Bed & Breakfast at Oliver Phelps was the first B&B in Canandaigua

Rogues Harbor Inn is a lovely historical B&B near Cayuga Lake

Corner Pub at Rogues Harbor Inn has great food and service at the Inn

Ciao! Was had authentic Italian food with Tuscan flair and delicious dessert

Ithaca Massage Station was a relaxing, pampering experience

NaturLuxe & Stars is where I had my first glamping adventure in style

Jerlando’s Ristorante & Pizza Co. has salads, Italian food & more

Nickel Pit’s BBQ has tender, tasty barbeque with warm service

True Love where I swooned over the schooner and talked to the Captain

Come sail away on the True Love Schooner on Seneca Lake Watkins Glen NY
Sail True Love

I made a decision. I found a way no matter what my bank account or circumstances looked like. No matter to those trying to set me up to fail or making assumptions. No more putting my life on the back burner and taking care of everyone except myself.

Commit to your goals and dreams. Create your life by design. Writing, speaking, wealth, wellness, travel, and more are possible. Get on the road, on the plane, or on the boat to wherever you desire to go.

Eat the dessert first.

Can you see the person you are meant to be?  Take the Journey to Hope and Transformation (which I talk about in my first book).

Get my book, The LORI Factor:  Live the Life You Were Born to Live, for more ideas on how to live life on your terms.

Tell me the actions you took. The first action was you read this blog. Thank you and congratulations. What spoke to you the most?

Let’s celebrate each step together. Let me know how I can help. Choose life and live life to the fullest.

These Doors are Dangerous – DO NOT OPEN

March 1, 2022 by Lori Leave a Comment

This URGENT MESSAGE was put on my heart. It can save lives.

It may seem harmless but beware. Many are lured in. It’s disguised. It’s a lie. Know the Truth before you open doors that compromise your future.

How do I know? I was fooled too. In fact, I almost died. Thankfully, I learned the difference before it was too late.

It almost stopped me from building my Young Living business because too many (not all) are partnering with the occult.

Many Christians are even mixing these practices that open dangerous doors.

Don’t take offense. Simply be open to learn the whole Truth.

(Note:  Young Living products are top quality. They support my health daily. Not all essential oils are the same. I ONLY use Seed to Seal Young Living. It’s HOW some use them. They are not “god in a bottle.” God made us and He made the plants. The oils are from the plants.)

Terms like healing energy, Reiki, yoga are rooted in a religion not of the True God. New Age is running rampant and can look like Christianity.

What doors have you opened? You cannot mix practices rooted in other religions and expect eternity in Heaven. This is no time to play or to compromise.

Get clarity.

Your choices matter. Ask the Name Above All Names to reveal Himself to you before it’s too late.

Maybe you don’t believe me. That’s okay. What if I’m right?

There is an enemy who came to kill, steal, and destroy. No joke.

This person found the Truth and learned her way was the wrong way. That was a close one. Here is her story…

https://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2020/may-june/nicole-watt-reiki-master-new-age-healing.html

Get the facts. Support your health without opening doors that will affect your eternal future.

I care about you. I can teach you the best way to support your needs spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

Just ask me.

Is Your Full Plate Devaluing Your Client’s Time and Projects?

November 1, 2021 by Lori Leave a Comment

It was a requirement by my mentor to attend certain events. The motive and intent were for my good. Learning the same business and personal training was a valuable experience.

As I observed her life and the craziness of the event, she said to me, “If you want what I have you have to do what I’ve done.”

Without hesitation, I said, “I don’t want what you have! Weeks without seeing your husband, working so hard and long that you collapse and hardly get any sleep. That isn’t my definition of success. That isn’t how I want my life to look. No thanks.”

I know it’s one thing to be driven and “hungry,” but you can’t be so out of balance for a long period of time without it literally making you sick and tired, burned out with damaged relationships.

My dad often said I needed to work three jobs, come home, pull weeds, and cook a hot dog, and go, go, go every minute. Work hard, yes. However, that pace and method look different for everyone. Many people brag how many jobs they are working while building their dream and business. They wear it like a badge of honor and may discredit people who aren’t working as hard as they are and even label others as lazy.

Is it worth it? Have you taken on more than you can handle? What consequences have happened?

I see it often. Business owners are taught they need to sign up for every program, group, and training. Keep in mind to choose what works for you and not get caught up in the marketing aspect of it.

On top of that, you are told it’s necessary to lose sleep, sacrifice time with your family, and work until you drop.

Yes, sacrifices are necessary, but at what cost? That can’t be the only way to achieve your dreams. Fair warning, it may result in resentment from your family, friends, and clients.

Pushing yourself to burnout isn’t benefitting anyone. Working multiple jobs while building your dream will affect how and if you show up. That will compromise your reputation and whether or not people can trust you.

Life happens and we all have missed or been late for meetings and appointments. It’s when it’s more the norm than the exception that causes problems.

Keep in mind when you set a date and time for a meeting and are late, unprepared, or a no show, what message does that send to your client? Repeated apologies get old real fast.

Your plate is not only overflowing, its breaking. The tasks you forgot to do or put aside affects more than you, it spills onto your clients. You tell them their project is being worked on, but is that just an excuse due to the way you managed or mismanaged your schedule?

If none of this matters, and the way you are doing things is working for you, keep doing what you’re doing. Success looks different for everyone.

Those of you who are ready to admit you can’t keep up your current pace and there is too much on your plate, maybe these 8 recommendations will help.

  1. Evaluate your current status. How many jobs do you have? How many trainings and groups are you in? Are you able to give your best to all of them or do you just pop in to make an appearance? Invest in yourself, yes. However, if you are in too many things at once, no human has the capacity to reap the full results and benefits.
  1. Does anyone get your full attention? Multitasking is an illusion. Active listening is a skill. How many times has someone been talking to you and you only heard bits and pieces, if anything, because maybe you were texting or doing other things while pretending to listen? Did that save or cost you time? What message did that portray to the person in front of you? Important note: If you rarely give full attention to your spouse, one day you make look up and they’re gone. If your marriage isn’t important and you prefer to be away from each other, then that may not matter. Love and happiness look different for each couple.
  1. Who and What are Your Priorities? We are all created by God for a purpose. That doesn’t mean you have to cram too many things into each day. God wants us to enjoy life in abundance. What does that look like for you? Stop and see the big picture. Dreams are important, but when you’re on your death bed will you wished you worked more? Or did you work so much it literally killed you? These are things we often don’t consider because we are racing the clock every day. Personally, the harder I push myself results in sickness and exhaustion which is costly in many ways. That doesn’t make me a wimp or lazy. Discover what’s right for you and prioritize accordingly.
  1. Pace yourself and know your limitations. Rest is a must in these human physical bodies. If you don’t, your body will rebel at the most inconvenient times, which will affect not only your health, but the commitments you made with your clients.
  1. How is doing everything yourself working for you? Hanging onto control of it all will cost you one way or another. For example, did you schedule a webinar, but you didn’t show up on time? Everyone has a learning curve with technology, but that’s when it’s good to practice or get help. If you or others were promoting a specific day and time and inviting people to the webinar, but it ended up changing at the last minute, that will affect whether or not people show up and wait for you or not show up at all. Before your meeting or webinar, assure that you have correct logins, resources, and presentations ready to go and you tested them ahead of time.
  1. No More Delays or Assumptions. It isn’t always about a client’s expectation of when each phase of their project gets completed or not. It also involves how you schedule your time and anyone on your team. Setting and meeting deadlines involves many people and their priorities. Missing meetings, not responding to messages (especially in a timely manner), and assuming your client will contact you all result in delays. Clear and timely communication is essential.
  1. Get Help. If you are exhausted and not able to keep up with everything and everyone, it’s time to get help. You can’t afford not to. Otherwise, you are risking your reputation, trust, and business.
  1. Remove things off your plate. When you keep piling on more things, other things will get buried, including yourself. There is a time and season for everything. Not everyone can successfully juggle too many jobs and clients and fit in family and fun. It will be like a house of cards waiting to fall. You may end up oversleeping and not hearing the alarm.

Hopefully, this was a wake up call for you and provided valuable considerations and solutions. Look at what is packed into each day. Make changes, adjustments, deletions as needed.

Observations and personal experiences brought me to write this message. Reach out if you need recommendations for assistance in managing your life and business.

Wishing you wellness, success, and happiness and the time to enjoy it.

ARE YOU ENGAGED? RING, RING!

April 12, 2021 by Lori 1 Comment

Did you think I meant engaged to be married? If that’s you, congratulations, you gave or received the ring. Today, I am talking about are you engaged in life?

Engaged or empty? Life is not for the faint-hearted. It can cause you to faint and want to give up. Some say keep pushing and grinding. That works for some people but for others it can literally make them sick, weak, and weary. It could be because when you give and give and give but never give to yourself, you come to a place of emptiness and no energy.

Fulfill your own needs before you fill the needs of others. Fill your cup first and serve others from the overflow. Otherwise, your cup will run dry. When your cup is dry, you thirst.

Without water, you get weak. All dried up with nothing to give leads to giving up and feeling hopeless. Maybe you no longer have the strength to fill your cup. What gives you strength? What rings true for you? Create your own bling and make your heart sing again.

One drop, just one drop can keep you going. Drink that one drop before you plop and pass out. Turn on the faucet and let the water flow. Replenish your supply.

Refresh your body and your mind and soul. You will awaken with new ideas and better ways to live a life that fulfills you. Your phone will ring because you found what excites you and rings your bell.

No more staying in bed. No more dragging yourself through each day. No more staying buried in bills and anything that is weighing you down. Take one more sip, one more step, and know your best days are ahead.

“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them” -Maya Angelou

Ask for help if doing it all yourself is too much. Often you don’t know where to get help or who to ask. Keep seeking. The help will come when you least expect it even if it hasn’t shown up yet.

It may look impossible right now. You may be waiting on promises that were made. You may be waiting on income you thought was on its way. It can seem daunting. The debts are a mountain that look insurmountable. Maybe you question whether or not you should pursue and stay the path that once was a clear direction.

I don’t know. All I know is focus on what brings you joy. Live in the moment. See yourself digging out of where you are now even if you don’t know how. Take time to pamper yourself. Have a date with yourself. Soak in the tub. Go sit by some water. Engage in activities that will spark happiness. Fill up your cup, raise your glass and toast yourself: “Cheers to you.”

You are alive and breathing. You’ve come this far. Keep going. There is more for you to do. Be excited. Even if you don’t know what that looks like, it’s okay. Trust the process. Take one day at a time, or one minute at a time, if one day is too much right now.

Look at a man the way he is and he only becomes worse, but look at him as if he were what he could be, then he becomes what he should be.  – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Look at yourself the way you could be. You can become that person. Don’t give up on yourself or your dreams.

Rest, read, write, pray. Everything will be okay. Stay engaged. Engage with me about your struggles, your story, your successes. Send me a message. I care. We will survive. We will thrive somehow, some way.
